Eagle Vision RV only sells policies that are exclusionary. This is very important when you are shopping for your motorhome RV protection. Is full time RV insurance more expensive?
The simple answer is yes full time RV insurance is more expensive for several reasons but mainly because you classify as needing full time RV insurance by living in your RV more than 6 months a year creating additional opportunities to have a claim and also because of the liability that creates. According to data the average RV owner will only spend between 28 to 35 days a year in your RV and and to be considered a full time RV owner you will spend a minimum of 180+ days a year in your RV.
Why is RV insurance so expensive?
RV insurance is a combination of auto and home owner’s insurance so it is expensive because it covers considerably more than a basic auto policy. RV’s are exposed to much more liability with their size/weight, components, construction materials, and weather conditions.

What are some of the best RV insurance companies?
Some of the best RV insurance companies in the marketplace today are Progressive, National General, Foremost Insurance and Allied Insurance. Each Insurance company is “”best” for a different RVer based on the type of RV, driving record, location, and other factors so we recommended using the insurance brokerage RVAmerica Insurance to shop them all at once for you to get their wholesale pricing.
Do I need travel trailer insurance if I have it on my truck?
Your truck insurance will have specific language about what is covered and what is not covered while you are towing your travel trailer. Typically if it is covered while towing it will not be covered while unhooked to the tow vehicle. Trees falling, fire, flood, electrical surges, other vehicles hitting it, natural disasters, people falling coming down your stairs, and much more can occur while it’s not connected to the truck and most likely needs it’s own coverage.
What is the difference between motorhome and travel trailer RV insurance?
The most obvious difference between insurance for a motorhome vs a travel trailer is the motor but the most important difference is that most RVers think their truck insurance covers their travel trailer. This may be true for collision purposes while its being towed but every policy is different. We highly recommend stand alone coverage for your travel trailer so it is insured properly for the damages that can occur while not connected to your tow vehicle.
